We take pride in being a full service virtual/online music production company. We are able to fully satisfy our clients’ creative needs without them having to visit our studios. This arrangement is very cost effective and beneficial to budget conscious artists as studio time and travel costs can be very expensive. By utilizing a virtual / online approach to music production, artists are able to save on production costs. All the songs featured in our portfolio were produced, mixed, and mastered using our virtual / online process – working with artists as far as Greece and Portugal.
We reiterate that the information provided below is just meant to serve as a guide for our clients. The creative process at Carmen Genie Music Factory is anything but rigid but we realize that it benefits our clients to have some structure to our services and to provide transparency. Again, please feel free to contact us if your project falls outside the scope of this document or if you have any questions. We look forward to hearing from you.
Here’s how our virtual/online process works…
We work with artists to produce instrumental tracks (w/o vocals) that match their creative style and showcase their full creative potential. The process includes - instrumentation, programming, audio engeering, recording, mixing, and mastering.
How does this option work?
Step 1 -> Artist describes project details to us – genre, target audience, artistic influences, instruments, etc.
Step 2 -> We head to the studio to work on a couple of tracks matching the request of the artists. We then provide the artist with a secure link to preview a selection of rough (draft) tracks matching the artist's style.
Step 3 -> We continue to incorporate the artist's feedback throughout the production process and it is not unusual for the final track to differ vastly from the initial rough demo. This is a very fluid process that continues until the artist is satisfied.
Step 4 -> We provide artist with a secure link where they can download the final instrumental mix.
How much does an instrumental track cost?
As with most things creative in nature, it is difficult to set a one size fits all price. Pricing ranges from $1,500 to $3,500. Please contact us with your creative needs and budget and we will get back to you on what we can accomplish together. We love what we do!
How long does it take to produce an instrumental track?
This all depends on the demands of the project but turnaround time is usually between one to two weeks.
For artists who want to use our songwriting team to craft lyrics and melodies that complement the underlying track. We recommend this option to get the best out of our services and in house talent. When our songwriting team is engaged in the production process it ensures that the musical composition (lyrics and melodies) is well suited for the underlying instrumental track.
The process includes - instrumentation, programming, audio engineering, recording, songwriting, vocal editing, vocal arrangement, mixing, and mastering.
How does this option work?
Step 1 - 4 -> same as instrumental option
Step 5 -> After an instrumental track has been produced and artist is satisfied, our songwriters and vocalists are brought into the production process. Our team of songwriters, producers, and vocalists all work with the artist to ensure that we are in the right creative direction – lyrics, melodies, hooks, harmonies, etc. We have a vocalist record on the track so the artist fully grasps the creative direction of the song.
Step 6 -> Artist is provided a secure link when they can download the instrumental only track, full song (includes lyrics, melodies, and vocals), and TV mix (Karaoke mix - no lead vocals). The artist can then take time to practice and record his/her vocals on the instrumental while referencing the complete song for guidance. This approach allows clients to practice at a comfortable pace without the pressure of working in a studio. Many times, artists head into a recording process unprepared and under the constraints of studio time which can be expensive. Our approach ensures that when artists book a recording session at a studio of their choosing and convenience, they are well prepared and equipped to deliver their best performance. Studio time should not be used for rehearsals or practice sessions. That becomes very expensive quickly.
Step 7 -> The artist sends us their recorded vocals for us to mix and master.
How much does the ‘Instrumental + Songwriting ‘ option cost?
As with most things creative in nature, it is difficult to set a one-size fit all price. Instrumental and songwriting fees are priced separately. Fees for songwriting ranges from $1,250 to $2,500 plus applicable royalty rates. Please contact us with your creative needs and budget and we will get back to you on what we can accomplish together.
How long does it take to produce a song?
We allocate about one to two weeks to produce the instrumental track. The songwriting process takes about seven to ten days. Combined, producing a song complete with lyrics, melodies, hooks, and harmonies could take between two to three weeks.

How do I prepare my files/session for mixing?
Please follow the steps below to ensure that your files are delivered to us correctly with no hitches.
Step 1 -> Start by removing any effects and plug-ins from your tracks. This includes all compression, EQ, reverb etc. You may leave any effect that you feel is critical to the sound but this should be limited. Make sure that none of the track clips! We suggest you leave at lease 3-5db of headroom on each track. Our engineers are sticklers for this.
Step 2 -> Consolidate and export your tracks as audio files. This process varies by DAW (Logic or Pro-Tools) and so we suggest you research how to perform this task on your DAW. Whatever DAW you use, be sure that all the tracks that are exported (bounced) all start and end at the same point. This is very important to ensure that all tracks are in synch when loaded on our platforms. Be sure to clearly label each audio file in the file name based on the track information. Example: Bass, Electric 1, Background Vocals etc.
To preserve audio quality, make sure that all tracks are bounced in 24-bit .wav or .aiff format. You do not need to adjust the recorded sample rate.
Step 3 -> Create a folder and include only the newly created audio files inside. Name the folder as the song name and Zip the folder.
Step 4 -> Send us the Zip file using the following free file transfer service – www.wetransfer.com. You will be asked for the recipient email address, you the following – email@example.com
Step 5 -> After you have approved the mix, we will send you the following via a secure download link – full mix, instrumental mix, accapela mix, TV mix, and 24-bit mix for mastering.
In addition to following the steps above, you need to fill out the form in the Contact Us section. This is where you can tell us about your project and what you are looking for in the mix. After we have received your information, we will review and process your files and may get back with you with additional questions or comments. When all is set, we will send you a PayPal link to make payment. See below for payment instructions.
How much does your mixing service cost?
At $375 a project, we believe our rates are very reasonable for the quality of service we provide. Of course, we are aware there are cheaper alternatives but we have a standard to maintain. We require a 50% ($187.5) upfront deposit before we start work on any project. The balance ($187.5) will be due after you are fully satisfied with the mix.
Please note that additional fees may be assessed for very complex/complicated projects or where the track length is longer than 6 minutes.
How long does it take to turnaround a project?
This all depends on the amount of revision and modifications that the client requests. You can expect to hear a draft mix in about 6 to 8 business days.
How many revisions can I have?

How does your online mastering service work?
If you are interested in having us mastering your project, please fill out the form in the Contact Us section and follow the steps below.
How do I prepare my files/session for mastering?
Please follow the steps below for best results.
Step 1 -> Ask your mix engineer to send you the 24 bit unmastered (some engineers take on mastering roles as part of mixing) version of your track. Check for the following:
• Do not use any compression/limiting on the output stereo bus (unless you use it only for the coloring of your sound).
In any case do not try to get your mix louder, as this is a process that we will do, using state of the art audio equipment, which
will guarantee sonic perfection..
• Try to leave at least dB of headroom before digital overload.
• Mark all mixes clearly with name, version, title and other relevant info
• Keep the files at the same bit depth and sample rate of the project- do NOT dither or convert sample rates
• Always backup your work
Step 2 -> Send us the Zip file using the following free file transfer service – www.wetransfer.com. Use will be asked for the recipient email address, you the following – firstname.lastname@example.org
Step 3 -> After you have approved the track, we will send you a final mastered track in .mp3 and .wav format via a secure download link.
In addition to following the steps above, you need to fill out the form in the Contact Us section. This is where you can tell us about your project and include a reference track of the sound you are looking to get out of the mastering session. After we have received your information, we will review and process your files and may get back with you with additional questions or comments. When all is set, we will send you a PayPal link to make payment. See below for payment instructions.
How much does your mastering service cost?
Our mastering fee is $155 per track. Full payment is required upfront.
How long does it take to turnaround a project?
Turnaround time is between 4 to 6 days.
Can you give my project a certain sound?
To an extent yes. This is a request that is best communicated at the mixing stage. Mastering is meant to bring out the best in a track not alter it. However, mastering engineers have a few tricks up their sleeves and could use certain dynamic tools to create desired results. We recommend you include a reference track with the sound you would like to achieve when contacting us.
Do you offer discounts?
Similar to mixing, mastering is a service NOT a product so no time is saved when tracks are bundled. Our engineers devote considerable time to each project and this commitment does not change with the number of projects. With that said, we are currently running a promotion - 10% discount on 10+ tracks.
